Date 11 Aug 2007

My good friend Sue is helping to promote English Country Walks in the US, with these classy bumper magnets. Email me if you want one too. Apparently, they’ll stick to anything except Saturns (Saturns are plastic cars).

First two are version 1, this one is the more refined version 2. Looking sharp now.

Thanks Sue!

Adventures in beautiful Essex

WALK REPORT Thanks girls! Did we have fun on Saturday or what? Here’s a selection of photos from our Essex walk of last weekend. Liske, Laura, Sophie, and Kate joined me for a long, lazy stroll down the Roman River near Colchester. Our find of the day was blackberries. They’re out, and they’re DELICIOUS! Came home absolutely knackered after ten miles on the trail, with stops at five pubs. But it felt good. [walk profile]

Trial Walk at Tring

Date 30 Jul 2007

WALK REPORT These photos are from a test run of a walk I did on Sunday with Lizzie, Katie, and Jonny to Tring and the Ivinghoe Beacon. The Beacon is an outcrop of the Chiltern Hills that lie to the northwest of London; from it you get some amazing views out over the surrounding English countryside. Thanks to my St Albans friend Graham Williams for suggesting the route. I may incorporate it into the schedule as one of my autumn walks. Scroll down for the full-size images, with captions.

Bodiam Castle and the Darvells, July 15th

Author David Wenk
Category Bodiam Castle, Reports, Walks
Date 19 Jul 2007

WALK REPORT Pics from Sunday’s trip to Bodiam. We were four this day – myself, Michelle, Jess, and Jonathan. In addition to visiting the castle, we watched a cricket match, saw some steam trains, had a picnic tea of vegan truffle chocolates (which melted in the hot sun but still were delicious thank you Jess), drank elderflower cordial on the terrace at the Salehurst Halt pub, and found some juicy wild plums to eat. But the discovery of the day was without doubt our encounter with the English Amish! 17 photos in this set – scroll down to see the larger images. [walk profile]
