Coding up a calendar for the website. I want to make it easier to select walks by date – at the moment you have to pick a walk, then check which dates that walk is available.

Ideally, you ought to be able to view all of the walk dates at a glance, preferably on the home page.

I’ll see what I can do …

WALK REPORT Did a solo trip to Leeds Castle yesterday (I wasn’t kidding when I posted on Saturday that there was still “space available”) and boy, was it nice out. Three weeks of rain have finally broken and given way to summer.

I used the time on my own to research an alternative route out of Harrietsham following unmarked footpaths that tunnel beneath the London-Paris Eurostar line and meet up with the original path near Fairbourne Mill.

There’s still space available on our next two walks, Fortress of the Black Swans (Leeds Castle) on Sunday, and the White Cliffs Walk, on Monday. The weather is looking good for a change, so come outside and enjoy the sun while it lasts!

WALK REPORT Seven of us braved the elements on Saturday to visit Bodiam Castle (aka the legendary “Swamp Castle” of Monty Python and the Holy Grail fame). We had lunch at The Curlew, a most excellent pub halfway along the route, and shot some pool at The Ostrich pub in Robertsbridge. [walk profile]

I’ve made a decision to stick with the five current walks for the remainder of the summer.

This will allow me to focus on promoting the business without the added pressure of having to constantly research new routes. If things go well this summer, though, I will be adding to the schedule in the autumn.

The good news is that you’ll now be able to plan your English Country Walks up to two months ahead! The last walks on the current summer schedule fall around the first week of September.

Check the individual walk descriptions for details on dates of operation.

This is a short clip from our White Cliffs Walk of last Sunday. We stopped for a picnic lunch on Exceat Hill, which is a very steep, grassy hill near the Seven Sisters cliffs. After lunch, Rupert and Mattie tried to do a two-person roll down the hill, while hanging onto each other’s ankles.

WALK REPORT These pictures were taken yesterday on our walk to see the Seven Sisters cliffs near Seaford (aka the White Cliffs Walk). Route was Seaford – Cuckmere Haven – Exceat – Westdean – Friston Forest – East Dean – Crowlink – Seven Sisters – Exceat. A fine day, an amazing picnic lunch, and a lesson in hill-rolling from Rupert.
